das fest:: the organic caravan serves up waffles and love

After almost a month on the road, the Caravan arrived at Das Fest, Germany's largest free festival held annually in Karlsruhe. Our focus shifted from gourmet salads and pasta to something both delicious and simple: organic waffles! This was our opportunity to use all of the information and lessons learned on the road to create a magical camp next to a beautiful lake.

We proudly represented our amazing sponsors in an effort to promote an organic and sustainable lifestyle... Yogi Tea provided us with a beautiful banner to represent one of our bestsellers: Chai Tea.

The Organic Wafflerey served up delicious, organic waffles with a great selection of toppings, from applesauce to Vivani organic chocolate sauce. People kept coming back for more and telling us how delicious they were!

The healing dome was in full effect with massage and pranic healing, helping festival goers release any stress or tension from their bodies and souls.

::Thomas D:: an interview with Bronwyn

22.June.2008

Bronwyn: "Thomas D, the Organic Caravan has just parked outside your gate. We've come from all round the world to ask you three questions:

If you are a group with a message, from your experience, what is the key to reaching people on a mass level?"

Thomas D: "You will reach people if you show your heart. With music, acting and performing it's about opening completely to the audience...If people can relate to you, if they feel at home, you will stand out for them...because you remind them of their own heart.

There is so much entertainment for people these days ...where entertainers make money by producing trash, stupid movies, and senseless music. This kind of thing can also reach many people. But it's gone tomorrow. It's the moment when you touch that space and truly fulfill yourself with the work that you do, that it becomes special. If you are really devoted, people will feel it.

If you on your mission- not like the missionaries from early Christian times- then you can bring everything onto your side. And to the public you can show your way... show the opportunities and inspire...but ALWAYS allow people their own decisions.

The problem is that everyone thinks he's right. No matter how good someone's intention is, this is the root of all evil. There is always a psycho emerging in society somewhere, telling you he's right...then there is war. It's a thin line. Yes, I am passionate but I'm not always right. Also we don't need to have each others' opinions. We can do what is right for ourselves in our own context. This brings relaxed behaviour to your fellow man, relaxed approach...community.

If you know what you are doing, people notice and they are attracted. It's not that you want them to change their lives, but showing you are in yourself, you are happy.

Art is to inspire. Politics is to manipulate. The media can be very manipulative. We got to use media for constructive things. There's so much trash on T.V. and they are going to broadcast anyway. So why not broadcast something worthy...then people have a choice? Like 'Have a little bit of my trash!' He says hip-hop style and laughs."

"The media is show business -even if something is positive. It's like the Truman Show, when he gets out he sees the illusion. And what does everybody do? ...They switch to another channel! That's what happens- you bring some enlightenment to people, and they change the channel after.

It's never boring if you entertain, educate ...then it's never boring or annoying."
